These terms apply to your use of Ember, a desktop application for generating and editing images on your own computer. By installing and using Ember, you agree to them.

Licence

You may install and use Ember on computers you own or control, for personal or commercial work. You may not resell the application itself, or redistribute it as your own product.

Your content is yours

Ember claims no ownership over anything you create with it. Your prompts, reference images, generated pictures, narration and exported videos belong to you. Since the application runs on your machine and we operate no server, we never receive or store any of it.

Responsible use

You are responsible for what you create and for how you use it. In particular, you agree not to use Ember to produce material that:

• infringes copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights held by someone else;
• depicts a real person in a false or misleading way, or is presented as a genuine photograph of something that did not happen;
• is sexual material involving minors, or any other content that is illegal where you live;
• harasses, defames or impersonates another person.

Because generation happens entirely on your own hardware, this is a matter of your own compliance with the law rather than something the application can enforce.

Models and the inference engine

Ember does not include an inference engine or any model weights. It runs software and model files that you supply or choose to download. Those components are provided by third parties under their own licences, and it is your responsibility to comply with the terms of any model you use, including any restriction on commercial use. The quality, accuracy and content of generated images depend on the model you have chosen, not on Ember.

Third-party components

Video export uses ffmpeg, which you supply, and narration for exported videos is produced by Microsoft's Edge text-to-speech service. Those components are governed by their own terms. Ember does not bundle or relicense them.

No warranty

Ember is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will run on any particular hardware configuration.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of Ember. You are responsible for keeping backups of work that matters to you.

Your data and uninstalling

Your images, settings and database are stored in your own user profile folder. Uninstalling Ember through Windows removes the application; if you also want the images and data removed, delete that folder yourself.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date of the last change at the top.
